What is PBIS?

The Positive Behavior Information System (PBIS) is a web-based software program that efficiently collects and organizes student discipline incidents in a way that helps teachers and administrators make drastic improvements in student behavior.  The system was developed by an elementary school teacher in Tustin, California, who is currently a doctoral student at the University of Southern California.  The purpose of PBIS is threefold:

  •  To improve student learning and motivation by improving the overall learning environment
  •  To improve teacher effectiveness and morale by providing them with a powerful discipline tool
  •  To provide administrators with real-time data and reports to make data-driven decisions to improve the school climate


PBIS takes the place of a paper referral system, and it has many advantages and features that you will not find anywhere else.  A referral or behavior incident can be entered in the system in less than 15 seconds by a teacher, aide, or any authorized person via a secure, protected website.  Once the incident is entered, the data is stored and can be retrieved or edited in a variety of ways.  PBIS can be used for:

What is the cost of PBIS?

The PBIS behavior software has a yearly licensing fee of $500. You can save money by purchasing a 3-year license for $1200, or a 5-year license for $1500.  You can pay for the license with a credit card on our website, or we can invoice you for payment by check.

Can I demo a PBIS account?

How does PBIS maintain security and confidentiality?

PBIS regards confidentiality and the security of your data as a top priority. Your school legally owns your data, and the PBIS operators cannot share your data with anyone without your written consent. The system is protected by multiple levels of passwords which prevents unauthorized use. The system also allows for different types of users such as teachers and aides who can have limited access to the system. The data is encrypted (https, AES 128 bit), and stored on a secure server in California.
